Mental Health Awareness Day

One of our goals for our Amber Flag project was to hold a Mental Health Awareness Day in aid of Pieta House.

Today, the boys and girls of Cranny N.S. wore odd socks to celebrate difference and wore jerseys to represent how we have worked as a team throughout the project.

We had a fun filled day.  The children had a disco in the sunshine where we danced to a positive mental health playlist with songs such as ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams, ‘Best Day of my Life’ by American Authors and ‘This is Me’ from the Greatest Showman.  The children participated in a catwalk show where they showed off their odd socks and jerseys.

We then had an ice-cream party at lunch time.

Next, we listened to the story ‘Winston was Worried’ and talked about what we can do when we are feeling worried.

Finally, we finished our day by making worry monster sock puppets that can gobble up all our worries if we are feeling a little down.

The children raised a total of €85 for Pieta House. Well done to everyone!
